A truly joyous occasion to celebrate ! Feel indebted and pay homage to the freedom fighters. Sweets are synonymous with festivals and celebrations in India. This is the biggest national celebration.
Pista burfi is known but pista halwa sounded like a good recipe to try. The ingredients were pretty basic but it had rich flavor without ghee.
- Pista – one cup
- Sugar – three fourth cup
- Water – one-fourth cup
- Dry grated coconut – two tblsp
- Saffron – pinch
Remove the shell around pista and soak it in hot water for 15 mins. Drain the water. Scrape off the brown skin, if any. Make a fine pista paste in mixer.
Add sugar and water in a pan and boil until one string consistency. Add the pista paste to it and keep stirring until it thickens and is non-sticky.
Serve it on a bowl and garnish with coconut and saffron.
