This idea occured to me while thinking “what snack to make when kids return from school?” During festival times too there is huge need of baked, fried snacks. This recipe is my own creation. It was a big hit in my family. Within no time, the entire stock was gone 🙂 If you don’t have oven then you can deep fry. You can use your favourite cheese and masalas. Left over chapati dough can be used too. This can be the featured item on your Diwali menu !
- All purpose flour – half cup
- Wheat flour – one-fourth cup
- Butter – one and half tblsp
- Water – one-fourth tsp
- Red chilli powder / paprika – two big pinch
- Roasted cumin powder – half tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Chat masala powder – half tsp
- Grated processed cheese – five tblsp (according to your taste)
In a bowl blend together all-purpose flour, wheat flour, salt and butter. Now add water little by little and make dough. Cover it and leave it aside for 15 mins.
Pre heat the oven for 350 degree. Now roll the dough on floured surface (half-inch thick). On top of the rolled dough sprinkle cumin powder, red chilli powder, chat masala powder and cheese.
Press and cut it in to strips and roll. Place them on greased baking sheet and bake them for 20 mins or until cooked. To get golden color, I broil on low for one minute (Keep a watch on it else it might turn black). Remove and ready to serve with tea, soup….
