Happy Holi !!!
When you hear the word Holi, you think of colors, lot of delicacies, gatherings, fun and so on. On this day , family, friends and relatives get together for celebrations. A variety of sweets and snacks are prepared on this occasion. When I make a dish, I try to think of different ways in which I can make it healthy while retaining the taste, flavor, texture and look. The traditional recipes used during festivals are certainly tasty but heavy (deep fried). While thinking on these lines, I came up with a healthy way of making ‘Namak Pare’.
Add this healthy recipe to your festival menu.
Kids love it!
- All purpose flour – three-fourth cup
- Soji / semolina – one-fourth cup
- Salt – to taste
- Ajwain / carom seeds – one-fourth tsp
- Ghee – four tsp
- Water – one-fourth cup and two tsp
In a bowl mix all-purpose flour, soji, salt and ajwain. Now add ghee (three tsp) to the flour and rub. Knead into stiff dough by adding little water at a time.
Cover it and keep it aside for 10 mins. Roll the dough (inch thick).
Cut into strips. Layer it on a greased sheet (use ghee to grease), grease top of the strips
and bake for 20 to 25 mis. Broil it low for less than one min.
Note : broil is to get golden brown color. During broil, be watchful of the time since they’ll turn black if not taken out at the right time.
