Mint rice


  1. Basmathi rice  –  one cup
  2. Mint leaves  –  one-fourth cup
  3. Coriander leaves  –  one-fourth cup
  4. Oil  –  two tblsp
  5. Jeera seeds  –  half tsp
  6. Mustard seeds  –  one-fourth tsp
  7. Urad daal  –  one-fourth tsp
  8. Sliced green chillies  –  four
  9. Chopped potatoes  –  one-fourth cup
  10. Salt  –  taste
  11. Water  –  two cups
  12. Turmeric powder  –  pinch
  13. Lemon juice  –  one tsp


In a bowl take basmathi rice, wash and keep it aside for 15 mints. In a mixer jar add coriander leaves, mint leaves, salt and little water. Make a fine paste. In a pan add oil, jeera seeds, mustard seeds and urad daal. Once mustard seeds are cracked, add green chillies, potatoes, turmeric powder, salt and mix well. Fry for  a minute. Then add mint and coriander paste. Cover it and cook for 5 mints. Now add water and boil it. Later add washed rice, drain excess water and add lemon juice. Cover it and cook until rice is soft.
