Onion and tomato curry


  1. Chopped onions  –  three cups
  2. Chopped tomatoes  –  three cups
  3. Ginger  –  half-inch
  4. Garlic  –  two (small)
  5. Green chillis  –  two
  6. Coconut  –  two tblsp
  7. Kas kas  –  one tblsp
  8. Coriander leaves  –  four tblsp
  9. Curry leaves  –  few
  10. Oil  –  one tblsp
  11. Urad daal  –  half tsp
  12. Mustard seeds  –  half tsp
  13. Jeera seeds  –  half tsp
  14. Turmeric powder  –  pinch
  15. Salt  –  to taste


In a mix jar add kas kas and salt. Make a powder. Now add coconut, green chilli, coriander leaves (three tblsp), ginger and garlic. Make a fine powder. In a pan prepare tadka with oil, mustard seeds, jeera seeds, urad daal, curry leaves and turmeric powder. Add chopped onions, fry until onions are light brown. Now add chopped tomatoes, coriander leaves and powder. Cover it and cook until tomatoes are soft. Ready to serve with chapatis………….
