Ingredients

  1. Rice  –  one cup
  2. Yellow moong daal  –  half cup
  3. Salt  –  to taste
  4. Milk  –  two cups
  5. Water  –  five cups
  6. Pepper  –  one tsp
  7. Jeera seeds  –  one tsp
  8. Mustard  seeds  –  half tsp
  9. Urad daal  –  half tsp
  10. Ghee  –  two tblsp
  11. Asafoetida  –  pinch
  12. Curry leaves  –  few
  13. Cashews  –   two tblsp

Procedure

In a bowl add rice, yellow moong daal, water (four cups), milk. Pressure cook up to three whistles. Let it cool. Add water (one cup) and boil it. Prepare tadka with ghee, urad daal, mustard seeds, jeera, asafoetida, pepper, cashews and curry leaves. Add tadka to pongal and mix well. Serve with chutney……
