Ground nut chutney


  1. Grounds nuts  –  half cup
  2. Daliya  –  one-fourth cup
  3. Jeera seeds  –  one tblsp
  4. Green chillis  –  four (less if chilis are very hot)
  5. Salt  –  to taste
  6. Fresh / dry grated coconut  –  two tblsp
  7. Urad daal  –  one-fourth tblsp
  8. Mustard seeds  –  one-fourth tblsp
  9. Curry leaves  –  few
  10. Oil  –  one tblsp
  11. Tamarind  –  one inch ( soak in water)


In a pan add ground nuts, jeera seeds ( half tblsp) and roast them. Turn off heat then add daliya, green chills to the pan. Let it cool. Grind them along with salt, tamarind and coconut. Make  a paste by adding little water at a time. Prepare tadka with oil, jeera seeds ( half tblsp), urad daal, mustard seeds and curry leaves. Add tadka to the chutney. Serve with dosa / idly.
